Silicon Valley Chinese Association Endorses Travis Allen for California Governor

Silicon Valley Chinese Association (SVCA), an organization with strong grassroots membership in the Chinese American community in Northern California, today announced that the organization has endorsed State Assemblyman Travis Allen in his efforts to run for California Governor.

In the heated primary election for the California governor seat, Allen emerged as the one that we believe is best suited to lead California to restore its fiscal viability, law and order, and equal opportunity for all racial groups. His values align best with the core interests of Californians.

As an elected state legislator since 2012, Allen has been advocating tax cuts for middle class Californians and businesses, fighting for policies to keep criminals off our streets, and introducing pro-parent choice legislation. More recently, Travis was a leading sponsor of a bill repealing the controversial gas tax hike.

On issues near and dear to the Asian-American communities, Allen has been at the forefront safeguarding the equal footing of all racial groups. Allen supports Proposition 209, which amended the state constitution to prohibit state governmental institutions from considering race, sex, or ethnicity, specifically in the areas of public employment, public contracting, and public education. In 2016, he firmly stood with us to fight against the divisive AB 1726, which attempted to single out Asian-Americans for disaggregated data collection.

In the coming months, SVCA will organize fundraising and volunteering activities to support Allen’s campaign. We urge all Asian-American communities across the state to rally behind him.
