State Propositions
ProposalRecommendationsReason
Proposition 2: Issue $10 billion in bonds to fund construction and modernization of public education facilitiesNoTaxes are already high. The California government is not short of money. Instead, it should manage the existing budget properly and prioritize education funding.
Proposition 3, the right to marry and repeal Proposition 8 amendmentNo
Proposition 4: Issue $10 billion in bonds to fund state and local parks, environmental protection projects, water infrastructure projects, energy projects, and flood protection projectsNoTaxes are already high. The California government is not short of money, but should manage the budget reasonably.
Proposition 5: Lower the vote threshold from two-thirds to 55% for local bond measures to fund housing projects and public infrastructureNoWhen issuing local bonds for affordable housing and public infrastructure, the voter approval requirement will be reduced from two-thirds to 55%, making it easier for local governments to issue bonds. This should not be supported given the current situation of huge government waste.
Proposition 6: Remove involuntary servitude as punishment for a crime from the state constitutionNoThis is another attempt to reduce the punishment for crime. Prisoners should work like lawful citizens.
Proposition 32 : Increase the state’s minimum wage to $18 per hourNoThe market will determine the wages that businesses pay. Excessive government intervention will only increase costs.
Proposition 33: Repeal Costa Hawkins Rental Housing ActNoCosta Hawkins protects the rights of homeowners and tenants. If it is canceled, it will severely hurt the interests of landlords, forcing many landlords to withdraw from the rental market. This will lead to severe shortage of rentals available in the market.
Proposition 34: Requires health care providers to spend 98% of revenues from federal discount prescription drug programs on direct care patientYesThe main purpose is to prevent some mega non-profit safety net health care providers from misappropriating government funds, intervening in California politics, and implementing extreme left policies.
Proposition 35 : Permanently authorizes a tax on managed care organizations to fund Medi-Cal programsNo
Proposition 36 : The Drug and Theft Crime Penalties and Treatment-Mandated Felonies InitiativeYesModify Prop. 47 to make California safer. Increases penalties for smash-and-grab crimes; Creates tougher penalties and better accountability for repeat retail theft offenders; Allows stolen property values from multiple thefts to be combined, countering tactics by career thieves who steal repeatedly to avoid harsher penalties.

At the same time, the facilities of Fremont schools are indeed in urgent need of updating, and the quality of public schools is directly related to housing prices. Notes from SVCA

1. Election laws stipulate that voters can only write in candidates’ names during primaries, not during the general election.

2. If only one candidate is allowed for a position, but multiple candidates are listed, please vote for only one based on your preference; otherwise, your ballot will be voided.

3. Candidates endorsed by SVCA on this guide are highly recommended; those endorsed by CAGOP/ SVGOP/ BAHN/ SVARW are moderately recommended; others are suggested. Voters should consider their options carefully.

4. You are welcome to reprint this guide in full, but please include the source.

5. If you dislike all the listed candidates, you may leave your ballot blank!

Some Points to Note:

  1. Members of the SVCA have spent time and effort analyzing and compiling this guide with endorsements from multiple organizations.
  2. No one will agree with you on every issue, meaning there is no perfect candidate.
  3. The recommendations in this guide are based on specific information about the candidates, party affiliations, past voting records, and analysis of their opponents during the campaign. They are intended for reference. We encourage voters to research and come to their own conclusions.
  4. Regarding local tax increase proposals, the usual answer is No! California is already a high-tax state, and there is no reason to give more. Elected officials need to balance the budget and expenditures.
  5. We oppose any candidates who actively promote and support systemic racial preference legislation such as SCA5/ACA5/Prop16/ACA7.
  6. For any questions and feedback, please send an email to info@svca.me.

This voter guide was carefully prepared by the SVCA Voting Guide Sub-Committee. All efforts are voluntary contributions by the members of the association.
